General Terms and Conditions
By registering and logging in, you agree to our terms and conditions.
- We have no binding period or subscription, and the use of our app is completely free.
People who wish to use the BikeTag app and its functions must register as a user. - Your user information is transferred and verified through MitID.
- You must be at least 18 years old to register as a user.
- You can only have one user profile.
- You can update your user information in the app at any time. You are responsible for ensuring that the contact information is correct and up to date.
- All information about the user is anonymous and only visible to the user and BikeTag ApS.
Once you have registered as a user, you can use our services in the app.
These features are described below:
- Transfer of ownership of a bicycle – between two BikeTag users.
- Donation/discard (anonymous) – of own bicycle or take ownership of a donated bicycle.
- Finder’s reward – payment of finder’s reward for your found bicycle or receipt of finder’s reward for the submission of a wanted bicycle.
- Report your own bicycle missing.
Upload of various documents (BikeTag ApS has no rights to these documents). - Search by BikeTag number or frame number – all users will be able to see general info about the bicycle (brand, colour, type) as well as the current status of the BikeTag or frame number (e.g., OK, Wanted, Donated), but no personal information about the owner.
Reporting a bicycle missing
When you search for your bicycle in the BikeTag app, you are automatically redirected to the police’s website where you report bicycle theft.
BikeTag assumes no responsibility in connection with the report to the police, but simply provides the user with a link as a service to the user.
It is the user’s own choice whether he wants to report the theft to the police. You do not need to report the theft to the police to search for your bicycle at BikeTag.
When cancelling the search for a bicycle in the BikeTag app, it is the user’s own responsibility to report the cancellation with the police. Otherwise, the bicycle will appear as: “Wanted in the police database” if someone scans the BikeTag license plate or enters the BikeTag number in the search function.
BikeTag license plate
The BikeTag license plate is a sticker with a built-in NFC chip. This chip can only be read by a mobile phone or other devices installed with an NFC-reader.
There is no GPS or other surveillance equipment installed in the license plate and it can only be read at a distance of 0-1 cm.
Inactive transfer
When transferring ownership of a bicycle to a person who does not use the BikeTag app, you should be aware that the BikeTag license plate becomes permanently and irreversibly inactive.
This means that if you search for the BikeTag number in question, the result will show: “Inactive”. You will no longer be able to e.g. report the bicycle missing or donate it, with this BikeTag number. However, the bicycle will still appear as “Wanted by the Police” if it has been reported stolen to the police.
If you want the bicycle to have an active BikeTag license plate again, it will require that you have a new BikeTag attached, in a dealer shop.
Payment of finder’s reward
Payment of finder’s reward of DKK 200, – should only be made if you have reported a bicycle missing in our app and it has subsequently been submitted to an authorized dealer. Until someone has taken your bicycle to an authorized dealer, you can cancel the search and thus the payment of the finder’s reward at any time.
We use the payment service Freepay and Nets A/S to handle these payments. Your payment and account information are stored exclusively on an external server and the information is processed according to international security standards. All costs and fees in connection with Freepay, Nets A/S and bank transfers are covered by BikeTag ApS, so the finder’s reward of DKK 200, – goes to the finder in full.
Receiving a finder’s reward
To receive a finder’s reward, all the following conditions must be met:
- You find a, – by BikeTag, wanted bicycle
- You confirm that you will submit the wanted bicycle within 72 hours to an authorized BikeTag dealer
- You submit the wanted bicycle within the time limit
- You submit the wanted bicycle at an authorized BikeTag dealer
- You provide your bank’s registration and account number no later than 30 days after submitting in the wanted bicycle
Payment of finder’s reward will be made from BikeTag Aps, no later than 30 days after receipt of your bank’s registration and account number.
BikeTag Aps can exclude a user if we believe he has acted in violation of our terms and conditions.
If we become aware that a user has fraudulently abused our system or otherwise acted contrary to common good repute, we may exclude the user from the BikeTag app with immediate effect. If criminal behaviour is suspected, we will hand over the case to the police.
Only the police and BikeTag ApS have access to owner information, history, and behaviour.

Privacy Policy
This “Privacy Policy” describes how BikeTag ApS processes personal data in our BikeTag app.
Protecting your personal data is our top priority, whether that information is about you or your transactions.
We process personal data in connection with the use of our app and have adopted this Privacy Policy, which describes the processing of this information.
BikeTag is a service tool that aims to protect bicycle owners from theft and sale of stolen bicycles, as well as handling wanted and donated bicycles.
To use our app, you must be verified with MitID.
In the app, a bicycle is linked to a user via a BikeTag number as well as a frame number. You can search by frame number or BikeTag number in the app and that way you can find out what status the bicycle has.
Transfer of ownership of a bicycle will be possible between verified users. The same goes for donated bicycles.
A verified user can also claim a finder’s reward of DKK 200 if they submit a wanted bicycle to an authorized dealer.
Your personal data is treated securely and confidentially. We have procedures for collecting, storing, deleting, updating, and disclosing personal data to prevent unauthorized access to your personal data and to comply with applicable law.
The guidelines below describe what types of personal data we collect, how we process this personal data, and who you can contact if you have questions or comments about this Privacy Policy.
The personal data policy has been prepared with reference to the rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation on the protection of actual persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free exchange of such data and the cancellation of Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) (EU) 2016/679 (also known as “GDPR”)) and the Danish Data Protection Act (Act no. 502 of 23/05/2018 as amended from time to time) (the “Data Protection Act”).
We collect and process personal data when:
- Creating users
- Email address, name, date of birth and year.
- Verifying with MitID
- Date of birth and year, name, and country of residence, as well as identification information from MitID verification.
- Registration of a Bike
- Telephone number
- Transfer of ownership
- Name and address of seller
- Reporting a missing bicycle
- Phone number and email
Proof of purchase
When you transfer/sell your bicycle to another user, a proof of purchase is automatically issued and uploaded to their BikeTag app under that bicycle.
This proof of purchase contains the seller’s (your) date of birth, name, and address. You are obliged to provide your correct address so that the proof of purchase is valid.
Donation
We collect and process personal data in connection with donation, which is verified with MitID, after which an anonymized donation certificate is issued.
Please note that donation of a bicycle is completely anonymous. When taking over a donated bicycle, you have no access to the previous owner’s personal data, only any pictures uploaded of the bicycle.
Note:
We reserve the right to transfer name and date of birth, as well as identification information from MitID verification of users of our app. This is to pass on the information to the authorities for reporting illegal conduct such as document fraud and the handling of stolen goods. We cannot derive a social security number from this information. Only the authorities can link a MitID identification number to a CPR number.
We process the personal data for the following purposes and processing activities:
- To fulfil the agreement, we have entered into with the users of our services in our app.
- To identify and service users of our app.
- To secure our app against illegal conduct such as document fraud, sale of stolen goods or discrimination.
- To customize and develop our services and products.
- To develop secure services for users in our app.
- To analyse our app for use in maintenance, operation and development of existing and future products or services.
Basis for processing in connection with your use of our Services
Our legal basis for processing personal data lies first and foremost in our relationship with you and to be able to fulfil and administer the agreement(s) we have entered with you.
As a rule, we will have the legal basis to process the necessary personal data in accordance with Article 6(1)(a), (b) and (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation.
The above provisions deal with the basis for processing personal data if (i) there is consent, (ii) if processing is necessary for the performance of a contract, (III) if processing is necessary for a controller or third party to pursue or defend a legitimate interest.
It is our assessment that the basis for processing personal data is met, cf. section 6(1) of the Danish Data Protection Act.
Verification
When users are verified through MitID, neither MitID user-ID nor MitID password is stored.
Our app stores date and identification information for MitID verification.
You have the following rights concerning the personal data we process about you:
- Right of access, i.e., a right to know whether your personal data is being processed and, if so, the right to obtain a copy of the Personal Data.
- Right to receive personal data that we have registered about you.
- Right to rectification, i.e., a right to have incorrect personal data corrected.
- Right to erasure / right to be ‘forgotten’, i.e., a right to have your personal data deleted without undue delay with certain restrictions.
- Right to object, i.e., a right to object to our processing of your personal data.
- Right to restriction of processing, i.e., a right to have the processing of your personal data restricted, for instance if a request for erasure cannot be granted.
Processing principles
We will process the personal data lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to the data subject.
Our processing of personal data is subject to a purpose limitation, which means that personal data must be collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes. They shall not be further processed in a manner incompatible with those purposes.
We process personal data based on a principle of data minimisation, which means that they must be adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which they are processed.
Personal data must be processed based on the principle of accuracy, which means that they must be accurate and, where necessary, up to date.
We process the personal data based on a principle of storage limitation, which means that the personal data must be stored in a secure manner and that it is not possible to identify the data subjects for a longer period than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data in question is processed.
The personal data shall be processed based on the principle of integrity and confidentiality, i.e., they shall be processed in a manner that ensures adequate security of the personal data, including protection against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction, or damage, using appropriate technical or organisational measures.
Risk analysis
In connection with our case processing, we must implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risks specifically associated with our processing of personal data.
We have carried out a risk analysis, which forms the basis of this privacy policy.
Accountability
All agreements in connection with the use of our services contain a reference to this Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect and process users’ personal data. The personal data policy is also available on our website.
The Website and Services are partly based on third-party software. We therefore also refer to the relevant policies of our partners and suppliers: Scrive (MitID), Freepay (gateway) and E-conomic (bookkeeping), Google Analytic, E-office, Aveo (hosting), Google Play, App Store, AWS (cloud handling), Google Maps, Nets A/S (acquirer), CPR register, and Danish Police.
Data processing agreements
If we assess that one of our suppliers has a data processing structure with us, we will draw up a “data processing agreement” with the supplier.
The data processing agreement must be concluded between us (as the “data controller”) and the supplier (as “data processor”) and must comply with applicable requirements for data processing agreements, cf. Article 28(3) of the General Data Protection Regulation. This means that a binding contract or other legal document must be made with the data processor. It is also a requirement that the data processing agreement is in writing, including electronically.
In addition, the General Data Protection Regulation lays down several specific requirements for the content of the data processing agreement. The agreement must, among other things, contain information about the subject matter and duration of the processing, the nature and purpose of the processing, the type of personal data, the categories of data subjects and our obligations and rights as data controller, as well as the duties that the data processor has in relation to handling the processing of personal data on our behalf.
Our processing of personal data takes place in Denmark.
Our app is hosted by Aveo A/S, in Denmark.
If it is necessary to transfer personal data to a third country or international organisation located outside the EU/EEA, we ensure prior to the transfer of the personal data to that third country or international organisation that the transfer of the personal data takes place in a way that constitutes sufficient guarantees, that the personal data is protected, including, where appropriate, by using the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses on data protection.
In this context, we also assess, prior to the transfer, whether additional measures are required to ensure that the processing of personal data continues to be subject to a level of protection, equivalent to that guaranteed in the EU, including in the General Data Protection Regulation, read in conjunction with the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.
BikeTag does not sell or exchange personal information about its users for marketing purposes to third parties.
However, we work with partners who perform important functions, such as software development, which allows users to use all features and services of the app.
BikeTag will never share users’ personal information unless it is necessary to perform our tasks so that our functions or services work optimally.
We have taken the necessary technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, or alteration and against unauthorized disclosure, misuse, or other action in violation of applicable law.
We use the payment service Freepay and Nets to handle payments. Your payment and card information are stored exclusively on an external server, where the information is processed according to international security standards.
Access to the personal data is limited to persons who have an objective need for this access. The employees handling the personal data are instructed in what they can do with the personal data and how to protect that information.
When using an external data processor to handle the personal data, a written data processing agreement is signed between us and the data processor, which also requires the data processor to take the necessary technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data.
Skift indhold
If you wish to delete your account with BikeTag ApS, first you must request this deletion.
You will then receive an email containing a link that you must click on to continue with the deletion process. The link will take you to a new page where you must fill in the reason for deleting your account and you finish by clicking on “Confirm deletion”.
You can request deletion of your account:
- In the BikeTag app under the menu item “Contact”. Select “Terms and Policies” and then “Delete my account”.
- Or you can click here.
Account deletion requests can also be accessed where you download your apps.
Please note that requesting account deletion will mean that you will no longer have access to your account with BikeTag and any bikes associated with your account will be made permanently inactive. All your personal data will be deleted in accordance with the terms below.
If you never had a bicycle registered to your BikeTag account or never have submitted a wanted bicycle to a BikeTag dealer, your personal data will be deleted immediately.
Several considerations and rules mean that personal data should not always or cannot be deleted before 6 years have passed.
Therefore, we always make a specific assessment of how long personal data should be stored before they are deleted. However, it is in the public interest that digital traces, regarding purchases/sales and donations are stored. Just like continued processing of the personal data is necessary for us to comply with legal obligations to which we are subject.
The accounting rules require that personal data linked to a payment must be stored for 5 years + current calendar years after the end of a financial year.
To safeguard your or our interests by possible liability may, in specific cases, means that the personal data is stored for up to 6 years after the end of the business relationship with the user. However, master data for users is stored — to ensure logical synergy to the accounting treatment of the information as well — for up to 6 years from the end of the customer relationship.
Contact information in our CRM system is deleted and updated continuously. However, e-mails that may be important for the establishment of a legal claim are stored for up to 6 years and are subsequently deleted, unless there is an obvious risk that legal claims will be raised against, or are intended to be raised by, us.
How do we delete your personal data?
Deletion of personal data generally means that the personal data is irrevocably removed from all storage media in which they have been stored and that the personal data can in no way be recreated.
Alternatively, personal data may be completely anonymised with the effect that they can no longer be attributed to a specific person. In this case, the regulation on personal data does not apply at all and complete anonymisation is therefore an alternative to deletion.
We may change the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy at any time with effect for the future. In case of such changes, information will be provided by e-mail. Our new privacy policy will then apply to your use of our services.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, our processing of personal data, their rectification, or your relationship with us, you are welcome to contact us at info@biketag.com

Reporting a bicycle missing does not cost anything, but if it is found, you are obligated to pay a finder’s reward of DKK 200, – but only if your wanted bicycle is submitted to an authorized BikeTag dealer.
The amount goes in full to whoever found your bicycle.
When/if your bicycle is found and submitted to an authorized BikeTag dealer you will receive both an email and a message in the BikeTag app with a payment link.
The deadline for payment is 14 days after you have been notified that your bicycle has been submitted to an authorized BikeTag dealer.
We use the payment service Freepay to handle payments and you can use Dankort, Visa, Eurocard and Mastercard to pay.
Your payment and card information are stored exclusively on an external server, where the information is encrypted. We follow international security standards until payment transactions are completed.
Once you have entered your payment information, the money will be deducted from your account and transferred to BikeTag ApS, which will appear on your bank statement.
The amount is not subject to VAT.
You have 14 days to pay the finder’s reward after receiving the payment link.
If the payment does not fall on time, you will receive 1st reminder both by email and a message in the app. This reminder will not be subject to any reminder fee, as we assume it must be an oversight. If the finder’s reward is not received within 10 days after first reminder, a reminder fee of DKK 100,- will be added in the 2nd reminder.
In case of continued non-payment 10 days from the time of sending the 2nd reminder, there will be a debt collection notice with a reminder fee of DKK 100,-, after which the case will be handed over to debt collection, with consequent costs.
Once your wanted bicycle has been submitted to an authorized BikeTag dealer, you have no right of return or refund in connection with payment of finder’s reward.
However, you can cancel your search at any time before your bicycle has been found and submitted to an authorized BikeTag dealer, and thus also cancel the payment of finder’s reward.
